About Empiremafia
New York after midnight. Empiremafia is a free multiplayer browser crime RPG — street jobs, crews, five US cities, a player-driven economy, and a casino floor. No download: play at empiremafia.org.
Free browser RPG
Empiremafia runs entirely in your web browser on desktop or mobile. Create an account, name a character, and you are in the city within seconds. There is no client to install and no platform lock-in — just email, password, and play.
What is this?
Empiremafia is a fictional online game inspired by classic text-based mafia RPGs. Every job, kill, and casino spin is make-believe entertainment. We do not encourage, glorify, or instruct real-world crime. Players must be old enough to use email responsibly; see our terms of use for details.
Account vs character
Your account is the email login — it survives death and seasons. Your character is one life in the current season: rank, cash, property, skills, and crew standing. When a character dies, that life is archived and you create a new name from the Characters screen. Reserved names return when the season ends.
How to play
New players should start with street crime for cash and rank XP, bank what they will not spend immediately, and clear the three daily contracts from HQ. Energy is reserved for attacks, kills, and crew actions — ordinary street jobs do not spend it.
From there the city opens up: car theft and property upgrades, the New York black market, airport travel to Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and Las Vegas, company factories and stock dividends, crew territories and heists, training skills over real time, and the casino for chips and table games.
The full public handbook lives at How to play Empiremafia. Logged-in players also have an in-game Guide under System with live links into each screen.
Season play
Empiremafia is built around long seasons measured in months, not days. Rank XP requirements climb from Civilian through Troublemaker, Petty Thief, Gangster, and Capo to Don. The curve assumes steady daily play — topping out in a weekend is not the design goal. Leaderboards, crew wars, and seasonal events reward players who stay in the world over time.
The city and the map
The story begins in New York — neighborhoods like Harlem, Brooklyn, Midtown, and Queens each host crime boards. JFK is the travel hub: fly to other cities for different jobs, crew turf, and heist staging. New York alone holds the black market, central company markets, and the busiest social boards. Wanted heat makes air travel costlier and can land you in prison at security.
Social and fair play
Chat, forum threads, private messages, and crew forums keep the city loud. Sticky rule posts in General and Off-topic set expectations; crew forums are private to members. Mutes and bans are real — play the fiction hard, but keep real people respected. Bug reports and ban appeals go through in-game player support when logged in.
