Empiremafia is a free browser mafia RPG set in New York and four other US cities.
You control one character per life, earn rank XP from street work and combat,
bank your cash, join a crew, and play the long season from Civilian toward Don.
This page is the full public guide — no login required.
Quick start
Create a free account at empiremafia.org and pick a character name. One email can hold multiple characters across deaths and seasons.
Run street jobs under Crime for cash and rank XP. Bike theft and pickpocket are good first-hour picks in New York.
Deposit spare cash in the bank. Pocket money can be stolen in attacks; the bank earns interest and is harder to drain.
Clear daily contracts from HQ — three dossiers per day with streak bonuses for steady play.
Travel when ready from JFK to Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, or Las Vegas. Each city has its own crime board and crew turf.
Rank ladder
Rank rises with cumulative XP from crimes, car theft, attacks, contracts, training, and more.
The season is tuned for months of play — Don is a long-term goal, not a weekend grind.

Welcome
The season is long. Don is a goal — not a weekend project.
You control one character. Rank rises with XP from jobs, car theft, and attacks. HQ shows status and shortcuts.
Cash can be stolen in attacks. The bank is mostly safe — a successful kill takes 15% of bank (capped). Energy regenerates about 1/min.
The guide is under System in the right menu.
Your account (email) survives death. Create a new character from Characters when you die.
Forum under Social: sticky rules in General and Off-topic, plus a private crew forum.
Feature ideas go in the sticky Feature requests thread (General).
Weekly Events (Account menu): short NY-time windows for street heat, contracts, Blood hour, and training deals.
Health and energy
Below 15 HP most ops are locked.
You lose HP on failed jobs, attacks, and missed kills. Check into Metro General for 1–10 hours (+10% HP per hour). Admission costs scale with rank. While admitted you cannot run street actions — same lockdown as jail.
Energy is used for attacks, kills, and crew/territories. Plan ahead — or wait for it to refill.
Street crime
Fastest start: money, XP, and a little risk.
Under Crime you take city jobs. Easy first, heavier with rank. Success pays money and XP. Failure can cost HP — or prison.
Cooldown between attempts.
Each city has its own jobs.
The bank
Deposit what you will not spend right away.
The bank earns interest. Pocket cash is for jobs, trading, and attacks. A kill takes all cash plus 15% of bank (capped at $500k). Transfers take a 5% fee out of the amount you send (recipient gets the rest) and have a cooldown.
Prison and police
Wait it out — or pay bail.
Failed jobs can raise wanted heat — either more time on the clock or a higher level (not both). Snitch tips and some firearm deals also apply heat. While wanted, failed jobs jail more often and airport security can lock you up when you fly. Cool down at the Police Station: bribe to shave the timer or downgrade your file (shared desk cooldown), or lay low — after 90 minutes without new heat your level drops by one. When the timer ends you are clear. Serving a full jail sentence (waiting it out) also cuts leftover wanted heat by about half. Point Shop also sells Clean slate (wipe wanted) and Under the radar (7 days where new heat cannot stick). Pay bail at Prison, use Points for a get-out-of-jail-free card, or a free crew mate can spring you. Police Station also handles bunker permits and tips.
Cars and theft
Steal, store, sell.
Car Theft steals vehicles into your garage when you have a free slot. No garage or full garage? The car is fenced automatically for cash (same NPC rate). Upgrade Property to keep cars, or sell extras on the dealership.
Black market
Weapons and ammo — New York only.
The black market is in New York. Travel via the airport. Firearms need rounds. Deals can draw police heat. Sales take a 10% tax to the casino jackpot (buyer pays list price; seller nets 90%).
Attack and kill
Hurt rivals — or finish them.
Attacks steal cash and deal damage. Kills cost money, ammo, and energy during the night window (or Blood hour), take all cash plus 15% of bank (capped), and wipe that character. You can attempt again if you still have energy and ammo — no once-per-night hard cap. Execution chance is lower than a normal attack, but a hit pays more XP. New characters get 7 days of attack protection. Bunkers and hospitals matter.
Hitman posts open cash bounties. Whoever night-kills the mark collects 90% of the escrow; 10% goes to the casino jackpot.
Crews and territories
Strength in numbers.
Form or join a crew. Leaders choose Open, Request, or Closed (invite-only). They set min rank/wealth, promote up to two officers, edit the description, and can transfer leadership. Officers help approve joins, kick members, and invite by name or invite code. Wars: both crews stake $15,000 from the vault; winner takes the pot. Your crew page is home for the vault, wars, members, and join approvals. Open turf needs a 6-hour establish contest against the streets — no instant takeovers. Rival crews flip owned turf in a 12-hour power fight. Winning a take or hold grants 7 days of protection. Held turf pays solid cash and rounds into the crew vault (top blocks ~$500–960/h); income pauses during contests. Free members can spring jailed allies by paying their bail. Cash deposits into the vault take a 10% tax to the casino jackpot. Leaders can stake timed Crew Heists — members push progress in the job city for a vault + personal split.
Crew Heists
Timed jobs for the whole crew.
The leader stakes the vault and starts an armored van, pier, or casino count-room job. Members in that city pick a role (muscle, driver, or lookout) and spend energy to push progress. Hit the target in two hours: most of the take goes to the vault, the rest splits among contributors with XP — all three roles among the crew earns a small personal bonus. Fail and contributors go wanted (lookouts cut that heat).
Company and factories
Build production.
Start a company, build factories (ammo, weapons, cars, contractor), and list goods on the markets. Your first factory is half price. Passive income and finished factory batches settle automatically; start production runs manually from the company account. Withdrawing company cash costs 15% (to the casino jackpot).
Property and bunker
Better digs, better garage, better bunker.
Upgrade property for garage space and bunker slots. Activate the bunker for protection. Resting at a friend’s place helps too.
Inventory and house stash
Carry three weapons. Store the rest at home.
Inventory shows what you carry: up to three weapons (pick one equipped), rounds, contracts, and garage cars.
Better properties unlock house storage — stash weapons and ammo at home with caps by tier. Homeless has no stash; upgrade to start storing.
Drop destroys a weapon. Store moves it to the house. Buy and factory takes fill carry slots first.
Daily contracts
Small jobs with streak bonuses.
Contracts are daily missions with cash, XP, and occasional chips. Harder tiers pay more; rank scales the payout.
Keep a streak for bonus cash and XP. Night claims pay a little extra. Check HQ alerts when something is ready.
Skills and training
Five long-horizon skills — one session at a time.
Train Driving, Shooting, Stamina, Street, and Economy. Each session costs cash and wall-clock time, then bumps the skill by 5% and grants a little rank XP. Exception: your first Street session (0% → 5%) is free and short so new characters can start.
Skills nudge odds, energy costs, interest, stock fees, and company income. You do not need max skills to compete — pick what matches how you play.
Airport
New York is the hub — fly to LA, Chicago, Miami, Vegas.
Each city has its own jobs and territories. Markets sit in New York. Travel costs cash and has a cooldown. Flying while wanted costs more — and airport security can throw you in jail.
Stock exchange
Buy shares, collect dividends.
The exchange lists companies tied to the cities. Buy and sell with a fee. Dividends pay out over time.
Casino
Chips, games, jackpots.
Convert cash to chips in the lobby. Solo tables vs the house (slots, roulette, blackjack, racing, duel) and multiplayer Ludo — equal stake, winner takes the pot after a 5% jackpot cut.
Chat, forum, messages
Talk to the city — and read the sticky posts first.
Use chat, the forum (no external links), private messages, and alerts. Stay civil — mutes and bans are real.
General has sticky Forum rules and How to report bugs / Support (locked), plus Feature requests & feedback (open for replies). Off-topic has its own locked rules sticky. Crew forum is private to your gang.

Death and seasons
Death ends the character — not the account.
If you die, that character is archived. Rank, money, property, skills — gone for that life. Log in with the same email and create a new character name.
Play for the season, not one night. Old names stay reserved until the season ends.
Energy, health, and risk
Street crimes do not spend energy — energy is for attacks, kills, crew contests, and heists.
It regenerates over time (about one point per minute). Health below 15 HP locks most actions;
check into Metro General to recover. Failed jobs can cost HP, raise wanted heat, or send you to prison.
Wanted players pay more to fly and face extra airport security risk.
Seasons and death
When your character dies, that life is archived: rank, money, property, and skills are gone for that name.
Your account (email) survives — create a new character from the Characters screen.
Old names stay reserved until the season ends. Play for the season arc, not a single night.
